Do Green Buildings Pay?
Hilton Costa Mesa
1/28/2010 05:30pm - 1/28/2010 08:00pm
At the U.S. Green Building Council Orange County Chapter's 2010 kick-off event, Scott Muldavin, President of the Muldavin Company and Executive Director of the Green Building Finance Consortium, will present the findings of three years of research documented in the Consortium's new book: "Underwriting Sustainable Property Investment", the definitive source of evidence and insight into evaluating the financial implications of sustainable property investment.

The Muldavin Company, Inc.is a consulting firm serving the real estate industry. For over 25 years, Mr. Muldavin has advised many of the leading real estate companies including CalPERS, RREEF, Bank of America, Principal, Ohio State Teachers Retirement System, Wells Fargo, Mitsui Trust & Banking, Alaska Permanent Fund, Catellus, Standard Insurance Company, The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, and Universal Studios. In 2006, Mr. Muldavin became Executive Director of the Green Building Finance Consortium, a group he formed to address the private sector's need for better valuation and underwriting practices to enable an assessment of sustainable property investment from a financial/fiduciary perspective.

In this presentation, Mr. Muldavin will:
 - Explain how to evaluate a property's "sustainability" from a financial perspective;
 - Present GBFC's Comprehensive Sustainable Property Cost-Benefit Checklist and explain how to apply it to financial analysis;
 - Discuss performance measurement's "missing link" and how GBFC's new Sustainable Property Performance Framework fills the gap;
 - Highlight the latest "hard" and not so "hard", but more valuable, evidence of superior performance of sustainable properties;
 - Introduce GBFC's Six Step Process for Sustainable Property Financial Analysis;
 - Explain why RAP is the key to the future of sustainable property investment.
